How to Cancel an AMZ Tracker Subscription
We appreciate that this post shouldn’t even need to be written by us but seeing as AMZ Tracker have seemingly gone specifically out of their way to make it hard to cancel a trial or subscription to their service, we have graciously laid out the steps for you, on their behalf.
Table of Contents
AMZ Tracker is a service that offers a suite of tools designed to help Amazon sellers scale their profits and grow their search rankings. It was a must-have software for all Amazon sellers when it was originally released, but multiple companies such as Sellics now offer similar tools at competitive prices and are arguably better. You can learn more about Sellics here and see how it specifically compares to AMZ Tracker in this post.
You can test out all of AMZ Tracker’s features for free for a full week; it’s easy to sign up for a free trial. Canceling your subscription is the tricky part.
They require you to sign up with your credit card before you can use the free trial and if you don’t cancel your subscription before the free trial ends, you will be automatically upgraded to a paid plan and your card will be charged.
Canceling an AMZ Tracker subscription is a tall order with the website requiring users to complete several steps before finalizing the process. With so many hoops to jump through, it’s really no surprise that most of the negative AMZ Tracker reviews are from users complaining about getting charged after the free trial ends.
Step-by-Step Guide to Cancelling
If you’ve tried to unsubscribe and failed or found the process too confusing, this post is for you. Here are step-by-step instructions for canceling an AMZ Tracker subscription.
Step 2: Click on the Update Credit Card tab
Step 4: Choose a reason to cancel your account
AMZ Tracker will prompt you to tell them why you want to cancel your account. They claim it provides them with feedback to help them improve the service. Choose your reason and then click Continue.
AMZ Tracker will then ask you which of their upcoming features would make you reconsider your decision. Choose whatever you like and then click Continue.
Step 5: Confirm you want to cancel your subscription one more time
In the next window, AMZ Tracker will try to get you to talk to a “Customer Success Manager” who will help you make their service more profitable for your business. Choose the bottom option to move on to the final step.
Step 6: Confirm you’re sure once more. This is the last time, I promise.
Type in CANCEL in all caps in the provided box to confirm you are absolutely certain you want to cancel your subscription.
Step 7: Wait for confirmation
Make sure that you get confirmation that your subscription will be “automatically canceled as soon as your billing cycle ends.” You should also receive an email confirming your subscription has been canceled.
Getting a Refund
AMZ Tracker’s refund policy states that all cancellations need to be made at least a day before the free trial expires or the new billing date to ensure you will not be charged. You will be automatically charged if you forget to cancel your subscription.
To get a refund, you must cancel your account within 10 days of the last payment if you have a monthly subscription plan, or within 30 days of the last payment if you have a yearly subscription plan. Your money will be refunded on a pro-rata basis, meaning AMZ Tracker deducts:
- Usage fees – based on the number of days you were subscribed, i.e. the monthly fee / 30 * days used.
- Service fees – based on charges made by AMZ Tracker’s payment provider.
Why Is It so Hard to Unsubscribe, Anyway?
AMZ Tracker’s website is deliberately designed to make it easy to subscribe and very hard to cancel a subscription. This tactic is known as a “dark pattern“. The goal is to try and manipulate you to continue using the service even after the free trial ends. It doesn’t help that they don’t make it clear that you’ll be automatically upgraded to a paid plan once your free trial run ends. That particular detail is buried in the terms and conditions.
But let’s be honest, who bothers to read the terms and conditions of a service they just want to test out for a week? Regardless of how you feel about it, what AMZ Tracker is doing isn’t illegal, but it is highly unethical.
Fortunately, you don’t really need AMZ Tracker to be a successful Amazon seller.
Some Better Alternatives
If you’re just starting out and need a service for product research (which AMZ Tracker doesn’t cover anyway) then we would suggest Jungle Scout; you can read our in-depth review of that by clicking here. Jungle Scout have their own product promotion tool called “Launch” which is a better alternative to AMZ Tracker’s Vipon product promotion marketplace.
A more direct competitor to AMZ Tracker with a similar range of tools all under one subscription would be Helium 10. You can read our full review of that and decide if it’s right for your business by clicking here.
All or some of these tools offer similar services but with more transparent terms.
